General Political History
Mexico, unlike other countries, is a multi-party system. A multi-party system is a system where many differently base political parties have the capacity to gain control of government offices. There are a plethora of political parties in Mexico; however there are three that are more popular than the others. PAN, or in other words, the national action party, was established in 1939. The national action party received its recognition and support from the members of the Roman Catholic Church, as well as the middle class. There support originates from the Roman Catholic Church do to its conservative views Human Rights Policies. The Party of the Democratic Revolution, also known as Partido de la Revolucion Democratica, was established May 5th, 1989. The PRD's focus is social welfare and tends to reject a vast majority of the economic reforms that are brought up for quite some time. Its leader is named Jesus Zambrano Grijalva. However, the PRI is the most important and popular party. Senor Cardenas of the PRD party was the candidate for center-left parties. He won the election but was unable to hold the power due to criminal circumstances, and in the end all the power was handed to the running PRI candidate, Carlos Salinas. The institutionary Revolutionary Party, also known as PRI, is the dominating and most popular. Formed in the early 1920’s, it was formed from the attempts of Plutarco Elias to stop the violent tribulations for power between the factions of the Mexican Revolution.

Mexico has defiantly gone through many changes in government throughout history. It is clear that some were better than others, however each event itself, is a huge part of Mexican history. The first major regime was the arrival of Hernan Cortes in the early 1500’s. He was well known for his courage and conquests he faced. In the year of 1523, Cortes became the governor and head chief of New Spain. However, in 1528, his title was removed and he was sent to Mexico where his powers were heavily restricted and he became quite limitless. This was important because Hernan he went on the conquest, and in the end resulting in him coming into power. The next regime in repeatedly highlighted throughout Mexican history was the Mexican American War. On April 25th, 1846 Mexico spiked a fight with a group of U.S soldiers whom were under the command of Zachary Taylor. The war lasted for only two years, however its impact lasted a lifetime due to the large amount of land Mexico lost. This was the first US conflict fought over soil. In the end, Mexico lost too much of its territory, putting the US on top.
